Reflections on the Moon and Four Seeds- A Giveaway

I’ve been reflecting on the moon.

How she experiences herself as whole- her own experience of herself is not as less than, as half or quarter.

Oh yes, she moves through her own cycles, sometimes in full light, sometimes in darkness, sometimes transitioning between the two.

Yet she’s always full- she fully embodies herself in light and she full embodies herself in darkness- she is both at once. She is complete- she is shadow and light. It is only us reflecting ourselves onto her that she mirrors anything less than her full glory.

In this way she reminds me of Persephone, Maiden of Spring, Queen of the Underworld. Persephone who dances in the fields leaving trails on new blooms with each step. Persephone who regally reigns over the underworld, her wise council sought. How often is her story told as one of completeness, fullness as she embodies herself where ever she is. Like the moon, her story is told as a reflection of others- of Demeter, of Hecate, of Hades, of Zeus and others and yet...

Circling with the Goddesses is an invitation. An invitation to invite the Goddess in, to sit with her, to listen to her, to dialogue with her, to embody her wisdom, to explore her lessons and to seek where she dwells within. In circle we do it in community, gathering outside the linearity of time and space, amplifying the energy. Practicing with the Goddesses allows us to access the divine and sacred powers of the various archetypes that reside in each of us. Communion with a particular goddess connects us more deeply with that aspect within ourselves. To find out more about this circle visit here.

  1. What a beautiful course!! To me, Persephone embodies the fullness of my capabilities. She helps me understand where I have come from, who I am, and the possibilities that lie before me should I choose to accept change. Change can be scary, and yet once the fears are faced and darkness confronted, so much can blossom.

  2. As a Scorpio, I have always been drawn to Persephone. She is able to embrace both life and death fully and yet retain a child-like innocence. To be she embraces the 3 aspects of Maiden, Mother, and Crone. Before her descent into Hades, she was the Maiden. During her time there, Persephone matures, embracing both the light and dark within herself. When she emerges, Persephone is as the Crone, as she represents the unity of Life and Death, while still retaining a youthfulness. Sharing on FB, G+, Twitter, already subscribed to whatever fabulousness you are up to :-)

  3. I have always been drawn to Persephone. I see Her as the living embodiment of the cycles of life, but also the bridge between polarites. She isn't just birth and death. She is conception, gestation, birth, aging, death, all of it. She could be sought, invoked and found anywhere. In everyday life, in art, in nature, in stillness, in giving and taking. She is a very complex Goddess, and Her mysteries are infinite. -- KRR

  4. Moving between light and shadow - the ability to live in two worlds, just as I always have ... can't wait!

  5. The couageous one Persephone is never afraid to meet with her shadow self and in doing so transcends her fears

  6. Dancing between the light and the shadow is what intrigues me the most about persephone, especially from a receptive stance. She doesn't get to choose when to leave or stay, she flows with the rhythms of the seasons, and yet she is empowered in that, rather than fighting against it. She emerges out of the interaction between self and nature. Would be so cool to circle with you!

Oh my, Persephone's story so mirrors my own these past few years. I have lived these two worlds, moving (not always effortlessly) from shadows to light. So much death and loss, losing my mother, husband, brother and stepdaughter in two years. But then being given the gift of teaching such beautiful little souls, with so much shadow already in their tender years. Shadow and light, many times both together...learning to move back and forth. I crave more understanding.

  8. In reading here about Persephone there is nothing that doesn't resonate with me. What an amazing class you are sharing here. I love what Persephone is all about, the Goddess of Transformation, Dark feminine goddess... moving effortlessly between worlds, and dancing in both the light and in the shadow. This is certainly something that I could use to learn from her. I also love that she's the Goddess of Innocence since my inner child wants so badly for me to connect with her... and then the growth and hope I could benefit from it all. xo

  9. In a reading with an amazing palmist, I've just discovered I have a Persephone marker in my hands. I've always loved the story of her living in two worlds, and that connection to the cycles of the natural world, and now it has an even stronger personal connection for me.

  11. Almost 9 years ago, when I took my first SoulCollage workshop with the late wonderful Seena Frost, I made a card intuitively. I was guided to add a pearl, a hand that pushed her down towards the earth, a scarab, and Greek columns. Back then, I knew nothing about mythology and had no clue who She was. When She revealed herself as Persephone in a reading, it was so powerful. The archetype of Persephone is one that is very present in my life, in many aspects: the maiden, the descent, the taking of the pomegranate seeds. Thank you so much dear Galia for this beautiful offering. Much, much love to you!

  12. I too have been reflecting on the moon of late, though in my own words, I've been referring to it as "trying to make friends with the moon". She is beautiful, humbling, brave, powerful, and at times naughty... like Persephone.
The images and words you use to portray Persephone resonate with myself and my own current path so very much... underestimated and over looked, yet one who moves effortlessly between worlds, one who dances in both the light and the shadow, grace, isn’t scared, transformation... these are lessons I believe in, lessons that are important to me, a journey I feel I am in the middle of at this very moment. The light and shadow concept is most poignant to my course, as I have been looking at my shadow and working on understanding how to embrace my shadow because my heart is pure. I would love to understand more deeply with your guidance.
You are so generous to provide such a wonderful opportunity for us all. Thank you, Sweet Thing. Peace, Love, and Light

  13. During the very first woman's circle that I attended one of the activities that we participated in was drawing a card from the Goddess Deck and discussing how it related to our current life situations. I was hooked! I had never been around a group of women who supported me and there was Persephone to spark it all. I have continued to seek out women's circles and various trainings to better connect with womb wisdom, most recently leading my own circle in conjunction with Unify and Our Red Tent. I know that whomever ends up with this gift will be greatly blessed by the experience, thank you for offering this.

  14. I do not know anything about this Goddess but with Life's issues at the moment, working on my lower chakras is what I need. Four is not a number that resonates with me but three is, so maybe I will be the third recipient chosen. ps The only thing I know is that Persephone was the name of a boat from a tv series I watched as a child.

  15. This sounds like an awesome course! I've always had an infinity with goddess lore (much to my mother's chagrin) but I feel like stories repeat and all of these are universal truths meant to reach everybody,if that makes sense? I would love to take this course and I've often thought the same about Persephone- she's a very mysterious figure and yet she is like all of us full of darkness and light but comfortable being both in a way that not all of us can claim....

  16. Persephone is staring death right in the face...she's not afraid at all. In fact she's thinking to herself "bring it on." She's brave and courageous in everything she does...the way all women should should be...the way we deserve to lead our lives.

  17. Confronting the shadow side started when I studied Jung in college as a psychology major. I was fascinated, but only later in life did I experience that shadow within . I was living in two worlds. I need Persephone to show me the way to live in two worlds as a strong woman, not a victim.

  18. I am so inspired by Persephone-I dreamed of leaving my hometown, then gel in love with a man here. My mother was opposed and my father was ambivalent-but I married him anyway. I'm now tied to this town for the time being, but have slowly gained my respect and place back in my family.

I was so reminded of Persephone when I was trying to conceive-I wore a pomegranate engraved bracelet. It reminded me of fertility and spring and renewal, but also helped me mourn and represented death after our miscarriages.

I will always identify with Persephone as a daughter torn between two homes, at the precipice between birth and death (spring and winter).

  19. I married a man that my mother did not approve of and my father was ambivalent towards-I felt split between homes. Due to my stepchild, I also felt tied to my home city with my dreams elsewhere.

The connection to Persephone really struck me when I was struggling to conceive-I wore a pomegranate engraved bracelet that strengthened me when trying, but it tied me to thoughts of her grief when I miscarried. That connection have me a focus while I dreamed and mourned. Now, as a stepmother that could not conceive, I identify with feeling that my heart itself is in two places.

  20. Persephone showed great strength moving between her relationship with her mother and father. Days were dark with her husband in the Underworld and then Spring woukd begin when she rejoined her mother.

  21. Galia, to be completely honest, I don't know nearly enough about Persepone as Id like. I know about the moon, the power of its light, in my life and our mother earth, waxing and waning in monthly rhythms shared at the same time for all of us, unlike the seasonal sun taking her turn to warm the hemispheres. Movements, rhythms each providing cycles and light. I've read a little about Persepone, pomegranates and seeds, but Ive no idea how these two concepts are joined. Big gaps here! So I'm entering, because Im at the stage where reflections and gaining of this sort of wisdom could be very beneficial to my artistry, conceptually and creatively and to me in my life. One day I hoe to meet in person, but until then joining your circle could be quite delightful and transformative. :)suzi
