Ferocious beauty, New Year and a Giveaway

Mama Bear mixed media painting Galia Alena
Mama Bear
Belonging,
held,
to the ferocious beauty
of this wild world,
This is the last painting finished in 2014, although there are several WIP floating around both the studio and the rest of the house. It feels like it sums up 2014 in many ways (as does the painting I'm working on today sums up the feelings for 2015 which will be the first of the new year).

Galia Alena Photography Do you believe in magic

2014 has been a good year, seeing us ensconced back home in OZ, nestled into the mountains, a delight of natural wonder and a gorgeous community. (Some highlights: Notes from the Garden, Paris and Course Correcting).  Babies are happy. The muses are singing. The mangoes are plentiful. Life is good.

Thank you 2014
And 2015 is going to be better (after all it will be filled with EASE).

Galia Alena PhotographyTo celebrate I am having a little giveaway- A Word of the Year Sacred Marks customised painting for your altar.

  1. HI Galia--before I forgot--I have sent this link to a couple friends I know would love it, I posted on facebook and on google plus...
My word of the year is expand...expand for me this year means spiraling--spiraling in to dig ever deeper int myself as I have lost myself in the past few years and need to find me and rebuild me once again...as well as spiraling out and putting myself out there more, with my art, with my work...
I would be deeply honored to have a piece of your artwork for my altar...you have been my teacher this year through spectrum 2014 and through 21 secrets and I am still learning so much from those offerings--thank you...

My word of the year is still germinating--2015 is going to be fabulous in that I finally have the tools (literal and figurative) to start my art business, and I also want to reach out an find some more friends in my area. I want to fully ground myself in my new life so that I have energy to give back in teaching and volunteering.

  4. My word this year is need. I want to really think about what I need before I spend, while I'm cleaning out my house, etc. I need to simplify my life (simplify was my word last year). I just need to keep asking myself if this is something I really need??

  7. My word for 2015 is authentic. I began working on this a bit this past year (sort of accidentally and not as intentionally as I could have) and it has really knocked things around in my life. It hasn't always been comfortable, but it has been a breath of fresh air and was much needed. I'm interested to find out what happens when I focus and work on it more mindfully. I'm holding on for dear life and fully expecting wonderful things to happen. I'm pleased that I happened onto your site and look forward to reading more. I will share your giveaway throughout my Ink & Alchemy platform. Www.robinkalinich.com

  10. I adore your work Galia! 'Flora' is very at home in my house. This year feels like it's rolling in with a gloriously expansive energy. I'm still stuck a little in finishing some of 2014's work, but once that's done, I'm looking forward to the breathing space to explore more creative expression in perfume and writing. It also feels like a deeper, receptive year, and an open one too! As you can see, I'm having a little trouble nailing down the exact 'bon mot', but 'expansive' feels pretty good. I'd leave it up to your intuition though. :)

  11. Happy New Year Galia. I just recently started following you and your absolutely amazing and inspiring work, I even dedicated a board on my Pinterest in your name with all your beautiful art. (I hope that's ok?) I am fairly new to "ART". I started self-teaching/learning about 2 yrs ago after becoming disabled. I needed a way to deal with no longer being able to work. (I was a Pediatric homecare nurse) I couldn't draw a stick figure when I decided to delve into this journey. I still have sooo much to learn and am trying to find my pace and who I am as an artist. Some days I love everything about it, and others I find myself frustrated and discombulated. It can be down right maddening. So I really thought about my word of the year, because I really could use several, but I decided mine is "PLUCKY". It covers a myriad of things, though not enough. I digress though…. Thank you for offering such a beautiful piece of your Art as a giveaway. I did repost the giveaway on Twitter, FB and Pinterest. I'm looking forward to seeing what you share with us this year. ((((HUGS))))

  13. What a lovely site, and what beautiful artwork. I'm still working on my word, but I think it's going to be vitality - which encompasses better health and energy as well as pouring that energy into my work. Have a wonderful week!

  14. Dear, beautiful, Galia. What an amazing opportunity.

I shared your giveaway on: my personal FB page; my FB biz page; a metaphysical group locally that I'm a member of; on my blog; and on Instagram. <3 (That's five more entries! lol)

My words of the year are a small phrase: **Gentle Effervescence.** There are actually two others words, too, that are actually my core desired feelings (Danielle LaPorte's Desire Map) - in combination with my two words of the year. So my total phrase for this year is: Generous Devotion (to) Gentle Effervescence.

Generous came to me in early Dec when I walked a labyrinth and picked up a stone which said "generous." Later that same evening, I had a tarot reading where generous/generosity kept coming up ... but the message was that I was "too" (sometimes) generous to others + not so generous to myself. That it was time to give to myself a little, too.

For the last few weeks, I've been working through which words would choose me. :) I have to process a lot, let go of a lot to be able to receive the new words. After going through Danielle LaPorte's Desire Map, it was obvious that EFFERVESCENCE was one of the words. I want to be more spritely, active, bubbly in all areas of my life. During meditation, it was clear that GENTLE was important too. It was as if the Goddess knew that it wasn't really in my nature to be full-on effervescent (I'm more reserved), but that I could be GENTLY effervescent. :)

After looking up the phrase "gentle effervescent" I saw many links to chemistry and how keeping things at a "gentle" boil, a gentle heat, allowed elements to stay connected. Without the gentleness, there was separation + wild activity. Gentle heat allowed for the merging, the correct combination in magical alchemy to take place ... with the result of a "gentle effervescence." Perfect. Because I have craved much more connection in my life, too. Connection to spirit, connection to my higher self, connection to the Goddess, connection to my body, connection to loved ones. To heal the idea of separation.

So this year is all about me being in generous devotion to living a life of gentle effervescence.

    So much love to you.
    - A flying sister. <3

  15. I've listened to voices of the past, stretched my neck and tried to look into the future. All in search of something to signal what my word for this year should be. It was feeling a little dismal and I began questioning myself, my sincerity and my place among the whole of life. "Geez, this is getting out of hand", I said to my normally grounded, country-girl self. I awoke with my senses peeked a few mornings ago and the word came to choose me...PROCLAIM. I'm still trying to find the meaning but I am very sure about it and becoming more and more fascinated by this word that has dropped into my life. Love all of your beauty and spirit-filled goodness, Galia. The thought of you walking the streets of Paris and possibly being taken back into another time made me smile. I loved the movie also. Wish we could both jump in the car and speed around with that sassy chap Hemingway:).
