With Ease and Grace

“I took a deep breath and listened to the old brag of my heart. I am, I am, I am.”
- Sylvia Plath
My word for 2015:
Galia Alena word of the year
Last year, after a trying time which resulted in us moving back home to OZ, I had thought my word of the year would be Gentle. I sat with it awhile but it never quite rang true. Then LUMINOUS came to me with such determination that I had to go with it. It has been an interesting year and I am still with the subtle yet deep ways in which Luminous played out.

This year, in a similar vein to "gentle" only with more precision to what I want to call in, I am going with the word EASE which feels perfect as it should. I've never really opted for the easy path and I'm not saying I'm going to now, just that things are going to go more smoothly on that rocky and less traveled path.

I found Ease allusive to define. When I look at all the definitions for it they are all termed by what it isn't, not by what it is and I wanted to position it in the positive, not the negative (since I certainly don't want to invite the opposite in and as the universe can have a wicked sense of humour- be careful what you wish for and all that), so I've had to try to define it for myself:

CALM ✯ SERENITY ✯ OPPORTUNITY ✯ GRACE  ✯ FREEDOM ✯ ABUNDANCE FLOW ✯ GENTLE ✯ PROLIFIC ✯ FORTUNATE ✯ PROSPEROUS ✯ PURPOSE EXPRESSION ✯ FALLING INTO PLACE

Galia Alena word of the yearI'm thinking that the simple little mantra that will go with it is:

"With Ease and Grace everything falls beautifully into Place"

And so it is...

What is your word of the year?

If you are wanting a little touchstone for your word of the year to sit on your altar, I am offering custom pieces here in my Etsy shop. Or if you are looking for a way to work with your word more deeply perhaps you might like to do an art journaling ritual with the word. 1. G, i've thought about the words 'ease' and 'flow' a lot... yes, not easy to define; i think it has more to do with releasing 'struggle' from our way of Being than anything else. we humans seem quite addicted to struggle.

on another note, i got the w. and n. travel paint set like you have. took the cotman paints out and am still messing around with the colors i want in it. love it so much... : )

if i were to choose a word i think it would be 'rebirth'...

    1. Releasing struggle, think I'll be always working on that, and yes I agree with the definition but it is still in the neg and stating what I don't want to invite (I've learnt my lesson there- "enough already with what you don't want, what is it you do want").

Can't wait to see what beauty you create- you'll be ready to head out anywhere the muses whisper around a corner.

I did some "rebirth" of sorts last year, after some snake medicine which stripped me of my skin, had me shed a whole country and then rise like Phoenix...

    2. And of course it all played out between the journal pages here: http://galiaalena.blogspot.com.au/2014/06/between-pages.html

    3. yeah, i absolutely agree - 'absence of struggle' wouldn't a good definition... what i meant to say is that it seems to make itself known more by what i leave out, than what i put in.

  3. My word for 2015 has arrived at last (after two others did not feel right). It's a much gentler word than I expected - PEACE. When I say it, I feel it in every inch of my body, so I know it's right. Saying it and even seeing it written has me exhale deeply. Ahhhhhh. I relax into presence and calm. From that powerful, centered place, I believe much good will come in the new year.

Wishing you much ease this year Dear Galia! Thank you for always inspiring.

    1. Peace, yes wishing you peace Tracie. And yes, the word has to feel right, some times you try a few on, sometimes you might circle back to one at a different time, but when the fit is right you know it.
      Peace to you my friend
