Much of my work, both on the canvas, in my journal, in my tarot readings, in the circles I hold even in my photography explores the idea of archetypes. So naturally I was thrilled to be invited as one of the teachers for Ever After, fairy tales, and play with a fairytale on the canvas- stories and myths intrigue me no end.

And even MORE exciting news is that I can give away 1 space on this magical new collaborative art course! Keep reading if you want to find out more about Ever After 2016 and if you want to find out how you can win a spot! :)

Ever After” is a mixed media art & style development course with a fairytale theme hosted by Tamara Laporte from Willowing Arts. Tam is joined by 12 fabulous mixed media artists who are all going to create beautiful fairy-tale inspired lessons AND, in Module 2 we will also be sharing some tips on how we develop our own style to help you find your own unique voice, one of the things I strive for myself and am most often asked about.
You can find out all the deets (and sign up with the Early Bird price) by clicking HERE

“The way to read a fairy tale is to throw yourself in.”
-W.H. Auden

I will be working with the fairy tale The Handless Maiden, a story of taking the heroine's journey and claiming our own magical gifts & feminine creativity. Its a story of initiation and self-empowerment, both themes I've been exploring of late with Circling with the Goddesses- Persephone. I'll be diving deeply (I'm already reading and dreaming) into the archetypes and lessons gifted in this story and then expressing and exploring these ideas further in the process of expressing them on a canvas, as I so often do in my work. The canvas becomes a dialogue with the tale, with the archetypes, with the themes and gifts of the story, gifts that live within us already written on our bones and passed down through our blood lines- blood and bone wisdom.

Registration opens on May 16th 2016 and the class begins on July 1st 2016.
So if you want to start your summer drawing and painting fairy-tales, exploring your own personal story and style and hang out with a wonderful creative community of like-minded souls, be sure to join once registration opens!

  17. I have been so excited about this course from the time Tam first announced it! The teacher lineup looks amazingly magical. I am a Fairy Godmother . . .(have a subscription based community of wee folk I send anonymous fairy accessories to each month). This course is going to be perfect to enhance my artistic ability and spread more magic fairy sparkles to the letters that go out each month.I have been accused of living in La-La land my whole life . . .in younger years didn't know how to respond to that . . . .now my response is "yes I do and I love it here"! I am so pleased to find you in this course . . your work is amazing!! I would love to win a spot. Sharing everywhere!!

Kinda of realizing my answer changes on this every morning as I check these, but the general message is the same... I love fairy tales, always have, and doing artwork about them is going to be extremely fun for me. I'm also now at the stage where I'm trying to find my own style, and sometimes floundering a little, so that is an aspect that I think I'm looking forward to almost more than the content.

    Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/403142604126356959/

    twitter: https://twitter.com/mattzone

Although I m a guy, but I love art journaling and love fairy tale story.. I read pretty much all fairy tale story. It can bring me to the world that is so magical, so happy and full of happiness, keep me away from the cruel reality, a little rabbit hole that I can hide myself. Imagine I can draw and recreate the famous character in my hand! Super cool! That is why I would love to join Ever After class. Moreover, it has 12 amazing teachers in this class made it super super awesome. I am an art class addict, joined a lot of art class, but most classes don’t’ specifically talk about developing your own style. That made Ever After class even more cool, as module 2 is exactly what I’m looking for a long time. Really really want to join this class and big finger crossed I can win the give away spot. =) Matt

  46. I am excited about this upcoming course. I adore fairytales and learning from you and the other wonderful artists teaching is going to be an amazing experience, seeing how each of you interpret the fairy tales and sharing your techniques for creating the pieces. I am also very interested in developing a personal style, learning how to create from the inside out instead of from the outside in. As a beginner it is necessary (at least for me) to learn as much as I can from artists I admire and emulate them to understand the techniques I want to master... but ultimately I want to create from my own knowing soul. So the second half of the course is drawing me as much as the first part. So fingers crossed and star wished upon to winning a spot. Sharing on Facebook and Pintrest.

I would like to take this course to gain more comfort in playing with my art rather than taking it too seriously or wanting it to be perfect...which of course means I don't make a lot of art because there is no such thing as perfect. Working with fairy tales I think would be a great help to climb out of the box and learn to color outside the lines!!!

  102. I've been looking forward to this e-course since it was first announced but now I am even more intrigued! I had never heard of that fairytale before. I recently started your 30 faces challenge and I find myself studying faces and looking at people longer than I should, taking in their features.

  107. I would love to win a spot!! I have always been fascinated by Fairy Tales. This year is a year of new beginnings for me. I have been the long term care giver for my mom who lost her battle with Non Hodgkins Lymphoma in January at the age of 93. She was always supportive of my artwork and proud of me. This year I want to find my own style. Work on finding me again. Thanks.

  117. oooohhh my fluttering fairie-heart! i do so adore fairies and their fables .. i believe the lost secrets in stories are discovered in fairie tales .. all one need do is listen with their soul. i have three little 'grande-fairies' (ages 6, 7 and 9) that have taken art classes with me almost from the time they could hold a 'crayon' ... they would so adore taking this class with me too. i'm sending 4 'fairie wishes' to win this lovely class. (one by commenting ... one by subscribing to Love Notes ... one by raving on my facebook page and one by whispering into the universe) XOXO, Frannie and Grandefairies

  121. As a former Literature teacher, I have a strong connection to Fairy Tales, and various mythologies as well (going to check out your goddess work right after this...)I love the lessons they teach, the many layers they contain and the ways they intertwine across cultures. I can't wait to push myself through the process of visual representations of them. I also am excited about the second module because I tend to produce works that are very similar to which ever instructor I following, so developing my own sense of style is something I look forward to. I have shared a ling both on facebook and on pinterest. Thanks for the opportunity - can't wait.
